About Tom

Tom has a strong sense of duty—to the judicial system, to laws, and to his clients. In the courtroom, he is acutely focused, imaginative, and bold. After all, that’s what it takes when everything is working against you.

Tom went to Boston College and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Washington, one of the best law schools in the west. After law school, Tom secured a prestigious federal law clerkship with the honorable Alan A. McDonald, U.S. District Judge.

After his clerkship, Tom became a trial attorney and eventually, chief trial attorney for the Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho.

For 23 years, Tom was charged with the task of defending clients in federal cases, challenging the best prosecutors in cases that are impossible to win.

The experience taught Tom to be thorough, holistic, rigorous, and creative in his approach.
